Jiggler keys are keys designed for opening car doors. These jiggler keys can also be used to start older model cars. But how does it work?

There’s a good chance you’ve already applied the technique with a regular key. Sometimes it happens that you insert a key into the keyhole and the lock doesn’t want to open right away. You then move the key up and down a bit, and voilà, the key works again. These jiggler keys are designed to work exactly like that, but on many different locks.

How do you use jiggler keys?

Normally, when lockpicking, you use two tools, namely a lockpick and a tension wrench. When using a jiggler key, that’s not necessary.

You insert one of the jiggler keys into the lock, give it a wiggle, move it in and out a few times, turn it to the right, turn it to the left, shake it, and suddenly the lock is open.

In this video, jiggler keys are used to open a pin cylinder lock. For plate cylinder locks, the technique demonstrated in the video is the same.

The simple and effective technique of jiggling means that even someone who has never picked a lock can open it in seconds.

Ties of Lockpickings

Ties has been involved with lockpick sets for over ten years. Not to open locks, but to understand how they work. Since 2011, he has been selling lockpick sets. In 2015, he started Lockpickings because he thought: more people should be able to do this. He writes about lockpicking. For beginners who are still all thumbs. For nerds who want to know how a pin really moves. And for anyone who wants to understand why one tool works better than another. Ties tests a lot. Too much, actually. But well, someone has to do it. He lives in Europe and believes it’s important for people to understand what lockpicking is really about: understanding how your lock works. Precision. Patience. And that satisfying feeling when you figure it out.
