Sparrows is organizing a lockpick event held in a real prison. During this event, you will receive intensive training and exciting activities. ROCK’A LOCK’A BANG BANG 2024 offers a unique experience for everyone who loves lockpicking, and I am incredibly curious about how this event will turn out. You will have the chance to test your lockpicking skills and connect with many others. In my opinion, it’s a really cool initiative by Sparrows.

General Information about the Event

ROCK’A LOCK’A BANG BANG 2024 takes place from September 5 to 8 in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada. This year, it is held in a real prison, providing an unparalleled experience. I haven’t confirmed this with Sparrows yet, but I suspect it is about this prison.

Accommodation and Meals

Participants of the Sparrows lockpick event will stay at the Ramada hotel. During the event, you have the option for shared or private rooms. Meals are included, with breakfast at the hotel and real American BBQs provided during the event. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it.

Intensive Training and Exciting Activities

During Rock’A Lock’A Bang Bang, you will have many opportunities to train various lockpicking skills. You can choose training paths, including lockpicking, lock bypass, SERE, covert entry, and lock impressioning. Additionally, there are advanced trainings such as breaching, RFID work, vehicle locks, night vision training, hostage rescue, and escape techniques.

Fireball Enduro Racing

Something else that I think has nothing to do with lockpicking but is just incredibly cool is the Fireball Enduro Racing. I don’t know if you’ve ever gamed before or if this game is still relevant, but it resembles Destruction Derby on a dirt oval track. For an extra fee, you can have a custom race car built and participate in this thrilling race.

Expert Lockpick Instructors

All training is provided by experts, including former RECON, military personnel, and winners of international lockpicking competitions. This guarantees a high level of instruction and guidance.

The Challenge of the Finale

On the final day, participants will be divided into teams and given realistic tasks to complete in the prison. It seems exciting to create a sort of Prison Break adventure here, but I can’t say for sure. It remains a big surprise!

Extras and Special Activities

As expected, you can also get prison tattoos in addition to the training and activities. You will receive alcoholic beverages sponsored by SKULL HAWK Whiskey and locally crafted beer served. On the first evening, there will be a meet & greet to get to know the other participants.

Logistics and Transportation

Shuttle buses will be provided from Montreal Airport (YUL) to Cornwall. Although there will be safety measures in place during the (sometimes quite extreme) activities, participants will need to sign a liability waiver. So, a Rambo training is not a bad idea!

Participation and Community

The event is open to everyone aged 19 and older, regardless of their experience with lockpicking or military training. Sparrows encourages you to travel alone so you can quickly integrate into the group and meet new people!

Ties

Ties of Lockpickings

Ties has been involved with lockpick sets for over ten years. Not to open locks, but to understand how they work. Since 2011, he has been selling lockpick sets. In 2015, he started Lockpickings because he thought: more people should be able to do this. He writes about lockpicking. For beginners who are still all thumbs. For nerds who want to know how a pin really moves. And for anyone who wants to understand why one tool works better than another. Ties tests a lot. Too much, actually. But well, someone has to do it. He lives in Europe and believes it’s important for people to understand what lockpicking is really about: understanding how your lock works. Precision. Patience. And that satisfying feeling when you figure it out.
