Sparrows Mini Jim Tool

The Sparrows Mini Jim is a small latch shim: a thin, flat tool that slides between the door and the frame and pushes back the spring latch – the angled bolt that clicks into the frame when a door closes. This is called latch shimming (in Dutch: flipperen).

Because it is so compact, the Mini Jim fits easily in a Sparrows Sherman or Tuxedo case, so you always have a bypass option next to your picks. It works well on spring latches of internal doors, such as office, storage and classroom doors that have closed behind you.

What it does not open

Like every latch shim, it will not open a door that has been locked with the key (a thrown deadbolt), and it does not work on latches with an anti-shim plunger (a deadlatch) or behind a latch guard plate.

Need more reach?
