The Sparrows Quick Jim is a latch shim for spring latches. You slide it between the door and the frame and push the latch back into the door – a quick way to deal with lockouts in offices, schools, shops and other buildings.
The Quick Jim is made of stainless steel with a polished, rounded edge. Similar tools are the Sparrows Mini Jim and the Sparrows MOLLE Jim; the Quick Jim is longer, so you can apply more force.
Like every latch shim, it will not open a door that has been locked with the key (a thrown deadbolt), and it does not work on latches with an anti-shim plunger (a deadlatch) or behind a latch guard plate.
Only use bypass tools on doors and locks you own or have explicit permission to open.
