This year, the lockpicking community is organizing this amazing raffle for the sixth time, and the results speak for themselves. In the past five editions, over 5,000 has been raised for various charities worldwide. Participants have the chance to win unique prizes, all donated by the community. Think of lockpick sets, specialized books, or even surprises like a lock-themed plush toy!

The event is all about nothing but positivity, namely contributing to good causes, connecting a diverse community, and of course, the joy of winning prizes.

How can you participate?

You can participate in the charity fundraising in two different ways. The event can be brought to life with you, as your prizes can be raffled here! Thus, the action consists of two phases.

Phase 1: Donate a prize

Do you have something unique in mind that you want to donate? Great! The beauty of the Lockpicking Charity Raffle is that the prizes are entirely provided by the community. You can really get creative with what you contribute. Previous examples of what has been contributed include lockpick tools, books about locks, to surprising and sometimes hilarious items (yes, spaghetti and even vacations have been submitted before!).

If you decide to contribute a prize, the organizers would like to know a few details. Think about what exactly you want to donate, whether you want to help with shipping costs, and whether you make your prize available for one or multiple prize pools. The nice thing is that your contribution only needs to be sent after the winners have been determined. This makes shipping a lot easier.

Moreover, as a donor, you will gain access to a special Discord space. There you can proudly showcase your donation. In this space of LPU on Discord, tips are shared with other donors, and you can coordinate shipping plans if needed.

Phase 2: Win Lockpicking Prizes!

Winning a prize during the Lockpicking Charity Raffle is just as exciting as picking a lock. The prize pool is always surprising, and the outcome is entirely based on your choices. Here’s how it works:

Starting in January 2025, the donation phase of the raffle begins. This means you make a donation to an approved charity of your choice. Once you have proof of your donation, it will be converted into raffle tickets. The great thing? The more you donate, the more tickets you receive.

And this is the exciting part, you decide how to use your tickets. Each prize pool is unique and contains a selection of great items. Maybe you dream of that exclusive lockpick set, a rare lock, or something completely unexpected.

When the raffle closes, the winners are randomly selected. Are you lucky? Then you will not only receive a great prize but also the warm feeling that you have contributed something beautiful to a good cause with your donation.

This year, this event supports a number of fantastic charities. Here are some of the charities being supported:

1. Doctors Without Borders / Medecins Sans Frontieres

This organization provides medical assistance to people in conflict zones, refugee camps, and during natural disasters. They save lives where it is needed most.

2. Alzheimer’s Association

The Alzheimer’s Association is dedicated to research for a cure and support for people living with this disease.

3. Against Malaria Foundation

With simple mosquito nets, this foundation prevents thousands of people from dying of malaria each year. Your contribution can literally save lives.

4. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Here, children with life-threatening illnesses such as cancer receive free care. Their mission: to leave no child behind.

5. The Internet Archive

A unique organization that preserves the history of the internet and provides free access to information for everyone.

6. Wikimedia Foundation

The driving force behind Wikipedia! They ensure that knowledge remains freely available to everyone worldwide.

How can you participate?

1. Donate to an approved charity – Choose a charity you want to support and upload a screenshot of your donation receipt (including date) as proof.
2. Choose your favorite prizes – After you have donated, you will receive tickets. Use these tickets to have a chance at great prizes, such as a training kit worth 73 euros, three Abus locks, and a SouthOrd Slimline Set worth 117 euros, extensive lockpick starter sets, Moki Lockpick tools and accessories, and unique locks such as a Sega wafer lock, a Schlage residential KiK, and a Yale 122/50 padlock.
3. Wait for the draw – The draw took place via livestream on Thursday, February 1, 2025.
