Plug Followers

If you want to take a lock apart, cylinder followers are very useful tools. A cylinder follower or Plug Follower is inserted into the lock’s housing as you remove the core.
You can also remove the cylinder core without a cylinder follower, but be prepared to see the little springs and pins flying past your ears.
This set contains four different followers made of anodized aluminum. They are designed to fit the most common locks you will encounter.

For a professional, these tools are essential – for a hobbyist, they are very handy to own.

The sizes are 0.5, 0.55, 0.495 and 0.398 inches. That is 1.27, 1.4, 1.26 and 1.01 cm.

If you are using a set of cylinder followers, it is also wise to use pinning tweezers.
