These motel keys are based on a trick used by traveling salesmen to prevent access to their motel rooms.
Because they often traveled with a mix of product and cash, traveling salespeople would become an easy target for theft.
Criminals often had duplicate keys or could simply break the lock on the Motel while the vendor was at work.

Motel keys was the solution to disable the lock and make the room safer ….. note we said safer.
Motel keys consist of two parts, the first is a barb that can be inserted into the lock and disable the lock.
The second is a slide that can lift the pins so you can remove the barb and the lock works again.
