Virtually all vending machines are equipped with radial locks, as are slot machines, cable locks, safes, elevators and removable bollards. This is because a radial lock is a little more difficult to lockpick, due to its beautiful round shape, than other pin cylinder locks.
Funnily enough, radial locks do look very similar to the normal cylinder lock. The only difference between the two locks is the shape, as radial locks (also known as Tubular Locks) have the pins placed in a circle. This requires a different tensioner for lockpicking.
Almost every radial lock has a small square notch where you can put a square tension wrench. We also sell unique tension wrenches specifically designed for radial locks to accommodate this rotational tension.
This practice lock from DINO introduces you to the most commonly used pins of radial locks. The practice lock is of high quality and very transparent, so you can clearly see how the mechanism responds to your lock picks.
We also sell special lock picks (called tubular lock picks) for these types of locks. These lock picks make it totally simple to open radial locks (a child can do the job).
Interested in a more difficult challenge? Then check out the radial lock with special security pins, called spool pins. This will prepare you for a unique challenge that can also be found outdoors.
