Who is the Sparrows Coffin Keys set for?

The Coffin Keys from Sparrows are designed for lockpickers who want to work quickly on simple locks. The set works on a wide range of wafer locks and pin tumbler locks, such as furniture locks, cabinet locks, and older padlocks. Great for beginners because you don’t need a separate tension wrench, and handy for locksmiths who don’t want to pick every simple lock.

What’s included in the set?

The set consists of 13 rocker picks, also known as skeleton keys, in various sizes and key patterns:

• 13 keys with varying profiles and thicknesses
• Each profile covers a different type of keyhole
• To be used without separate tension, you turn with the key itself

It works as a cross between picking and using a shim. You insert the key into the keyhole and move it up and down while gently turning it at the same time. Slide it in and out until the pins or wafers give way. If it doesn’t work, you take the next size. Similar to the technique behind jiggler keys: patience and variation yield more results than force.
