Latch shim with a spring steel blade and vinyl handle for doors that have closed on their spring latch. The notched blade gives grip and more force than a plastic card; not for deadbolts. For locks you own or have permission to open.

The Locksmith Jim is a classic latch shim for door latches, made from flexible spring steel. Notches in the blade give you grip on the latch, and the rounded edges slide easily into the gap between the door and the frame. The vinyl handle gives you a firm, comfortable grip.
A traditional locksmith tool for lockouts where a door has closed on its spring latch. Compared with plastic shim cards, the steel blade and handle let you apply more force.
Like every latch shim, it will not open a door that has been locked with the key (a thrown deadbolt), and it does not work on latches with an anti-shim plunger (a deadlatch) or behind a latch guard plate.
