MOKI lockpicks from Germany
MOKI picks come from MOK-Workshop, Moritz's workshop in Germany. He designs his picks and tension tools himself and includes no unnecessary gimmicks in his sets: only tools that you actually use. The picks are made from fine steel and carefully sharpened and polished, so you feel little friction in the lock. Notably, there is a spare tip: in the handle of most MOKI picks, there is a second tip in case the first one ever wears out or breaks.

According to Moritz, it all started with a lockpick bag. Through that bag, he discovered how large and tight-knit the locksport community is, with clubs, forums, and even championships in opening locks without damage. Inspired by makers of custom picks, he wanted to bring the same finish to picks that you simply buy in a store: flat and smooth. Every imperfection on a pick creates friction in the lock, and you don’t want that noise when trying to feel the pins.
Moritz has his profiles tested by experienced lockpickers from the international community and adjusts his range in consultation with that same community. He developed a few sets together with well-known pickers: the Reverend set with TheReverend and the AKAB set with Yabende.
Most MOKI picks have a distinctive handle. The steel runs through the entire handle, and a second tip is hidden in the frame. If the first tip wears out, bends, or breaks after a long time, unscrew the handles, cut or saw away the frame that protects the spare tip (with a fine metal saw or good wire cutters), smooth the edges with fine sandpaper (grit 800–1000), and screw the pick back together. This way, your pick gets a second life instead of ending up in the trash.
With the V2 versions, this is even easier: there are break edges in the frame, and a small spacer plate is released that fills the space in the handle. Each V2 pick also has an engraved part number, so you know exactly which profile you have in hand. With the separate ABS handles in green or black, you can color-code your set.
The MOKI Gold Digger Lockpick Set V2 includes three hooks from the Xtra series. They have a sturdier profile and are forgiving if you apply a bit too much force at the beginning. Additionally, you get a Triple Peak Rake and four flat tension tools (BOK+) that you use at the top and bottom of the keyway. The hooks and rake are 0.5 mm (0.020″) thick.
The MOKI Minimalist Lockpick Set V2 combines three hooks, two diamonds, and a Triple Peak Rake with seven tension tools. A good set if you want to try other profiles in addition to hooks.
The MOKI Explorer Lockpick Set V2 is the comprehensive set with picks, rakes, and eight tension tools for both top (TOK) and bottom (BOK) of the keyway. For advanced lockpickers and ambitious beginners who want a complete set right away.
The MOKI Reverend Lockpick Set V2 is a purist set for single pin picking: six hook profiles and the complete tension tool package (BOK+ and Prybar TOK).
The MOKI AKAB Lockpick Set is a specialized 5-piece set for locks with pins in multiple directions, such as Kaba, Goal, and West.
A good tension tool is just as important as the pick. The MOKI Prybar TOK tension tools are made from high-quality knife steel, strong and durable, and come in a right-handed and a left-handed version. The BOK+ set consists of four flat tension tools made from rolled spring wire in different thicknesses, handy as an addition to any set.
Only practice on locks that belong to you or for which you have permission – and never on locks that are in use. Want to know what is allowed and what is not? Read Is a lockpick set legal in the Netherlands and Belgium?
