Impressioning involves using files to replicate the grooves in a key to create a working key. The file is used to transfer the contours of the internal keyways in the lock onto a blank key, shaping the key to the exact form of the lock. The lock can then be opened.
If you have never used a pear-shaped pippin file before, this file will be a pleasant surprise for you. Professionals do not choose these files as their favorite tools for no reason. It’s hard to find Grobet’s pippin files nowadays, but we have made them available for you. After extensive research of other files, we discovered they were not the real pippin files. One of the files did not have the correct shape and was probably not of Swiss/Italian quality. Our pippin files are of the highest quality and we also offer the medium coarse pippin file with two cuts.
Pippin files have a tapered shape in width and thickness to accurately create the grooves of a key. They are specially made to create openings where you think one is needed.
The Grobet Swiss Pattern precision files are the world standard for quality and performance.
ALWAYS WEAR EYE PROTECTION WHEN USING PIPPIN FILES.
